This year, with the goal of becoming the best junior golf tour in the Greater Ottawa Valley, the PGA of Ottawa will be adding an event to the 2017 schedule. The first event will be a 9 hole par 3 event, followed by a skills combine. The results from both the round and combine will be used to develop a Custom Training Program (CTP) for each player. The CTP is designed to help players improve areas of their game through efficient and effective practice throughout the season. At each event, PGA of Canada professionals will be debriefing players after the round to review stats and adjust the players individual CTP’s as necessary.

In addition to this new development program, each player will earn Golf Ontario Order of Merit points at each event. These points are required if juniors are interested in participating in provincial competitions or qualifying for provincial development teams. 90 players to register for the Junior Challenge Tour will be accepted. Boys’ age groups will be 10-12, 13-14 and 15-18 and Girls will be 10-14 and 15-18. The team representing the PGA of Ottawa at the Humber Cup Ontario Team Championships will be chosen by the best three (3) gross scores out of the five 18 hole events. The team may consist of up to: two girls of any age; two girls in the 10-14 age group; two boys in the 10-12 age group; two boys in the 13-14 age group; and four boys in the 15-18 age group. The Humber Cup will take place in Uxbridge, Ontario from August 23-25, 2017.

Throughout the season competitors earn points at each event in the following manner: one (1) point for each player in their division they beat: ten (10) bonus points are awarded to the tournament winner of each division. Double points are awarded for the season-ending Championship Tournament. The player with the most points at the end of the tour will be named the Junior Challenge Tour Champion. Gift certificates and awards will be presented to the top point earners at the championship banquet following the Tour Championship.
